Better Late Than Never

In my last post I promised that I would blog over the Christmas Break about all the recent adventures...and technically I have over a week left until school starts again so I am keeping my word to all my avid blog followers. You may wonder why I would blog now when I have set a tradition of laziness...the answer: Everyone else is watching Mama Mia and I just cant take it anymore. Honestly I can barely stomach Pierce Brosnan as James Bond when he's pretending to be athletic, tough, and able to kill people, there's no chance I'll be able to stand 2 hours of his singing.

(Pierce at his best!)

Anyways, right now Lindsey, Brinley, Clark, Lisa, Amy, and myself are staying at a fabulous Marriot Vacation Club in Orlando Florida. We are about 1/2 mile to the west of Sea World and about a 2 miles East of Disneyworld. The weather is absolutely perfect here! My apologies to my family and friends spread out across Utah and Wyoming who are freezing. Today we hit golf balls at the Nick Faldo Golf Academy and swam in one of the pools here at the resort. I think I got a sunburn!

Since it's 2009 now I'll start from yesterday and work back. Yesterday was one of the coolest days ever because.......the Utes trashed Alabama in the Sugar Bowl!!! I will admit I had my doubts, but there was always a glimmer of hope in my heart for my "Runnin Utes." I don't think I've seen anything more pleasurable than watching Alabama's coach Nick Saban squirm after every miscue. I think he's a slimeball. (For all my law buddies that might read this don't worry I have not committed libel because he is definitely a public figure and the matter is a public issue and I did not speak with actual malice).

New Years: We spent a lovely New Years with my family in Delta. We had as much fun as ever enjoying the annual family game night, amazing Mexican food, and of course fireworks. Unfortunately I was unable to convince my family that we needed some "REAL" fireworks from Wyoming but I think they're still nervous from the enormous fireworks we had on the 24th of July. My dad also introduced me to the world of Crow Hunting. I have always ignored crows until I was informed of the serious damage they do to the pheasant population. We actually have some decoys and had a "blast," pun intended.

Prior to New Years, we went ice fishing twice at Otter Creek State Park. The first time I had GREAT success, I caught about 12-13 fish most of which were 18-20 inch fish weighing between 1.5-2.5 pounds each. I caught my limit and most of my dad and uncle's as well. The second trip included ONE...that's right ONE bite and no fish. It was a tad slow for my liking.

Job Interviews: I was lucky enough to have 2 job interviews over Christmas Break, both of which went wonderfully. The first was at Parsons, Behle, and Latimer in downtown Salt Lake. The clerkship would allow me to work directly with an attorney who is known by many in Utah as being one of the best, if not THE best, water attorney in the State. Everything is a go with the attorney in charge of hiring, we lack only the approval of the board of directors. The hiring director thought that the odds were good that they would approve the clerkship so we'll keep our fingers crossed. The second interview was with the firm in my hometown of Delta. I visited with the county attorney for Millard County. We had a long visit about the possibility of a PERMANENT position upon graduation. We talked about holes that I would be able to plug in the firm and about some other areas that I could possibly take over. It was extremely encouraging. So we have some options and I'll update as soon as we hear something definite.

Christmas was also tons of fun. We had Christmas Eve with my family, including the annual Christmas Eve Party at my Uncle Dave's house. It was wonderful to see all of my family members. We stayed the night at my parents house and got to spend Christmas morning with my parents before we hurried to Orem to visit Chase (my brother-in-law) who is on his mission in Portland.

I realize this is extremely long but I really need to ramble on and on until this movie is over or else I know I'm going to have to listen to it at least. I apologize to all of you who loved this movie it's just not my cup of tea. I'll download pictures and get back into the rhythm of my once-a-week blogging and I promise that the future posts will be much more humorous. Humor is after all one of the essential elements of this blog. I hope everyone is enjoying the break and the return back to work.

See ya'll soon. GO JAZZ!!!

p.s. Jeff if you see my blog please either accept or deny my trade for Boozer, the suspense is killing me. Boozer's out at least another month probably closer to 6 weeks and I am willing to take him and let him ride out the time on my bench. Plus I watched the Utes marching band at halftime of the Sugar Bowl and I thought of you. Ahh t'would be nice to be talented.

I DON'T BELIEVE IT, Lisa stopped to talk on the phone and they PAUSED the movie!!! There's a lake here that they claim may have alligators in it, I may go for a swim. I bet the alligators can hear Pierce singing from inside our hotel room they're probably really agitated.

Ok, I just read over my blog and a lot of it sounds very cyncial. I do not speak to insult or criticize I merely make a poor attempt at humor. Anyways if you can't laugh at this movie or the goofiness of it then you may not appreciate my type of humor. My apologies.
